Types of Metal Roofing Materials
Metal roofing comes in a variety of different materials that each have different protective abilities. Galvanized steel, for example, will be able to withstand oxidation due to its zinc coating while galvalume can resist corrosion. You may also be able to add another layer of protection with metal roof coatings that can add UV protection, waterproofing, and rust resistance.
Consider the following types of metal roofing for your property:
Galvanized Steel
Galvalume Steel
Steel
Iron
Copper
Aluminum
Different Metal Roofing Styles
Corrugated metal materials are composed of sheets of hot-dip galvanized mild steel, cold-rolled to produce a linear ridged pattern in them. They feature repetitive roles on the surface much like a wave designed with ridges and grooves that make them stronger than before.
Standing seammetal roofs involve raised legs or seams spaced in between flat panels of metal. These connections are hidden with snap lock systems that are water and airtight so that nothing can infiltrate through the roof.
Metal roof tiles consist of metal sheets that are shaped and sized into tiles to be laid over your roof. Metal tiles are a great way to implement a classic roof style to an otherwise innovative roofing structure.
